A man has turned himself in following the death of Reece Newcombe, a boxer who trained celebrities, including Ian Wright. Mr Newcombe died after a fight is believed to have broken out on Saturday morning on Richmond Bridge, in London. Since his death, friends and family have raised thousands of pounds for his daughter’s future through a crowdfunding campaign.

The 31-year-old trainer, from Egham, leaves behind an infant daughter, Misse. Mr Newcombe, who taught professional boxing, trained Arsenal legend Mr Wright as well as actor Jack O’Connell.

His devastated family have been left reeling writing on social media: “Words cannot describe our grief. Our family is broken and never will be the same again without Reece’s larger-than-life personality.”

“As a family, we will make sure his darling daughter Misse will know all about her Daddy and how much he loved her and how much he was loved by everyone.”

They added: “We appreciate everyone’s love and support. RIP our beloved Reecey Bear.”

Police were called to Richmond bridge at 4am on Saturday, November 26 after a fight broke out on the bridge. They found Mr Newcombe, who appeared to have been stabbed with a shard of broken glass and performed CPR prior to medics arriving on the scene.

Mr Newcombe died later that morning in hospital.

Detectives investigating the murder have today arrested a 32-year-old man after he attended a west London police station.

He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Newcombe’s family have started a fundraiser for his daughter which has already reached £26,000.

His friend Dobbo wrote: “Reece was a loveable, fun guy loved by all.

“He didn’t have a bad bone in his body. He made an impact on everyone he met.

“Unfortunately we lost our dear Reece, leaving his daughter Misse behind.

“I want to raise money to give Misse the first Christmas and start in life her dad would have wanted.”
