London homes have been “submerged” after a huge pip burst left scores of people without running water. Footage shared online showed cars and a large number of properties flooded by the water.

Thames Water said its engineers had been at the scene of the flooding, in Belsize Road, NW6, since the early hours of this morning.

This was caused by a “large” pipe burst.

One social media user shared a video of the impacted area, describing ground floor flats and homes as having been “submerged”.

In this, emergency services can be seen attending to the damage.

Express.co.uk has approached London Fire Brigade for comment.

Thames Water reported just before 7am: “We’re working with the emergency services to make sure residents are safe after a large pipe burst has caused flooding in Belsize Road.

“Our engineers have been on site in the surrounding area from 4am to shut off the valves around the burst and stop the water flowing.

“To our customers who have been affected by this – we’re so sorry.”
