Renowned for its local produce, Burgundy offers a range of fun and exciting ways for travellers to discover its wines and new flavours.

Wine Bike Discovery

In Burgundy, winegrower Olivier Leflaive is considered one of the pioneers of wine tourism. He is bursting with original ideas to diversify his wine-related tourism offers. This is how the “Wine Bike Experience” was born, a strange electrically-assisted vehicle that allows several people to make a trip through the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune, south of Burgundy regional capital Dijon.

On board, 12 passengers, including 8 cyclists help to move the vehicle. The 1.5 hour ride is in reality an opportunity to see vineyards landscapes and tasting three wines from the Regional, Villages and Premiers Crus appellations. The tour finishes at the Climats du Vignoble de Bourgogne, the two restaurants of Leflaive hotel in Puligny-Montrachet.

Workshops led by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France

Fabrice Sommier, wine master awarded with the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF or “Best craftsman in France”), set up his Wine School in the heart of the southern Burgundy vineyards: the Mâconnais. This wine tasting and discovery institute offers a collection of 30 discovery workshops to travel through the wine riches of Burgundy, other wine regions of France and even the world. Good news also for tourists coming with their children. Sommier organises workshops to match food and grape juice exclusively reserved for the little ones!

Discovering the secrets of the little black berry…

If Burgundy is famous for its wines, it is also a land of small fruits and more particularly blackcurrants. Located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Cassissium is a museum dedicated to blackcurrants with a rather tasty formula: every day at 11:30 am, visitors can taste blackcurrant-based products and Burgundy specialties accompanied by a cocktail. The Cassissium also organises monthly evenings to learn how to make cocktails and become a real mixology professional!

Last but not least, coming this spring 2023, the Cité des Climats et des Vins de Bourgogne will open a network of three sites in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon, reference points for all wine lovers who want to discover and understand the infinite wealth of Burgundy’s vineyards.
