Star Wars fans in tears over incredible prequels flashback cameo in The Mandalorian

This week’s episode of The Mandalorian season 3 is titled Chapter 20: The Foundling. Much mystery still surrounds how Grogu survived the Emperor’s Order 66 to kill the Jedi during the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. And now we know how thanks to another epic Star Wars flashback from a few decades before. Grogu thinks back to the clones slaughtering the Jedi at their temple on Coruscant and how he managed to float into an elevator without being slaughtered. When Baby Yoda arrives on another floor he’s greeted by a Jedi Master who’s there to save him. But it’s not just anyone.
It’s Kelleran Beq played by none other than Ahmed Best. Star Wars fans will know the legend portrayed Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and suffered years of backlash against his character. More recently the actor has confessed to having had suicidal thoughts as a result. The 49-year-old received a swath of support from fans in response and has since had a new character created for him, as seen in the children’s game show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge.
The series puts young contestants through a number of Jedi tests of strength, knowledge and bravery with Best hosting them as their mentor, the Jedi Master Kelleran Beq. And now wonderfully the actor has returned to the time of the Star Wars prequels as his new Jedi character, given the honour of being the one who managed to rescue Grogu and escape execution by Order 66. Fans couldn’t hold back their tears in response.

One emotional fan tweeted: “Seeing Ahmed Best back mad me cry, I’m so glad he’s back on my god, welcome back.”
Another wrote: “I’m so f***ing happy for Ahmed Best, oh my god. Dude goes from one of the most despised Star Wars characters to playing the Jedi who saved Grogu. He f***ing deserves this.” And one said: “I couldn’t stop crying after seeing Ahmed Best. These are tears of joy. He was definitely the highlight of that episode.”
No doubt this won’t be the last we’ll see of his character in The Mandalorian and hopefully, he’ll be popping up in future films and TV shows as a result.
