Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have just announced their new album, Council Skies, and released a new single from it – Dead to the World – to celebrate the news of their next tour throughout the UK.

Noel said Dead to the World is “by some distance my favourite tune on the album”. He went on: “It has this film noir vibe. It’s not like anything else I’ve ever done before. It’s very melancholic, but I like that. I’m a Gemini – I’m as up as I am down, and the trick is to meet somewhere in the middle and turn that into music.”

Dead to the World is being touted as one of “several” songs on the new album, Council Skies, that utilises strings arranged by Rosie Danvers. The long-time High Flying Birds collaborator has been imperative for the new record, Noel explained. “Rosie gets what I do,” he continued. “Spending a weekend recording strings in Abbey Road… that’s one of the great privileges in a musician’s life. It sounds majestic.”

These live shows will be Noel’s first gigs since they hit Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage back in 2022, delivering one of their biggest concerts to date. Not only is the former Oasis star hitting London’s enormous Wembley Arena, but the High Flying Birds are also making appearances in Cardiff, Leeds, Glasgow and Liverpool – to name just a few. Tickets for the expansive UK tour come out later this week from some major retailers.
