King Charles III and Queen Camilla have been crowned in a service at Westminster Abbey in the first Coronation service for nearly 70 years.

King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, are being crowned as the King and Queen of the UK and other Commonwealth realms at a service in Westminster Abbey, in a ceremony that has garnered global attention and esteemed guests.

Biden congratulates new monarchs 

US President Joe Biden has congratulated the King and the Queen on their coronation. 

First Lady Jill Biden is in attendance for the coronation. 


Unlike the King’s anointment, Queen Camilla was anointed in public, without the anointing screen.

What is the Cosmati pavement?

Queen Camilla has been presented with the royal sceptre and the rod of equity and mercy.

Both the King and the Queen Consort are now enthroned as the choir sings Andrew Lloyd Webber’s composition, based on Psalm 98.
