Princess Eugenie has made a swift return to work after giving birth to her second son just days ago.

To mark World Ocean Day on Friday (June 9), the environmental campaigner princess launched the second season of her Ocean Advocate mini-series on Instagram.

Earlier, she had trailed the new series with a video on the social media platform highlighting the ocean activists and experts she would be talking to in the new series.

She wrote: “In celebration of World Ocean Day I’m launching my Ocean Advocate series two tomorrow! Stay tuned for episode one.”

The King’s 33-year-old niece gave birth to Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on May 30, announcing his arrival four days ago.

But the princess, an ambassador for the Blue Marine Foundation, a charity dedicated to restoring the oceans by addressing overfishing, was quick to return to the cause.

And it met with a good reception from followers on Instagram, who praised her commitment to the environment.

One wrote: “Respects for HRH Princess Eugenie just had a baby and keeping with work at the same time!!”

The first episode of the new series featured Eugenie in conversation with Hugo Tagholm, the executive director and vice-president of Oceana in the UK.

“We’re working on sustainable fisheries, we think we should always follow the science on only fishing at sustainable levels,” he told her.

The princess then asked Tagholm how he inspires so many young people to get involved.

He said: “We all rely on a thriving, healthy sea for the oxygen we breathe.

“So we try and inspire with how people can be involved in various ways.”

This could be anything from organising beach cleans to lobbying your local MP on the issue, he added.

Upcoming guests include Zandile Ndhlovu, the founder of The Black Mermaid Foundation, and Brigitta Gunawan, who is behind the 30 x 30 Indonesia project, which is trying to protect 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030.

The first season of the Ocean Advocate mini-series was launched last June, and Eugenie welcomed guests including her “dear friend”, singer Ellie Goulding, throughout the summer.

Eugenie, who married Jack Brooksbank in 2018 and is also mother to August, two, said at the time the series would bring voices from “some incredible people who’ve sought to protect the ocean and what lives in it for many, many years”.

In April, she said becoming a mother had made her more determined to protect the environment and she hoped her children would also take up the cause.
