A boy who was stabbed to death at a party in Bath at the weekend has been identified as aspiring drill rapper Mikey Roynon. Emergency services rushed to an address on Eastfield Avenue shortly after 11pm on Saturday following reports of a stabbing. Despite the interventon of medics, Mikey, 16, from Kingswood, was unable to be saved and died a short time later at the scene. Locals say a mob of hundreds of people attended the party after the event was advertised online.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that Mikey, known by his rapper name “YM”, died from a single stab wound.

Three boys – a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old from Wiltshire and a 15-year-old from Dorset – remain in police custody and continue to be questioned by detectives.

Eight teenagers, who were arrested within half-an-hour of the incident on a bus at Lansdown Lane, have since been released from custody and no further action will be taken against them.

Detective Inspector Mark Newbury, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Mikey’s family have been informed of these developments and our thoughts continue to be with them as they come to terms with their loss.

“Specialist family liaison officers supported them through the formal identification process which is something no family should ever have to experience.

“The investigation into Mikey’s murder continues at pace with a team of officers and staff working tirelessly to piece together what happened.

“A cordon remains in place at the scene, and we continue to appeal for anyone who has images, footage or information which could help our inquiry to get in touch.”

Yesterday (12 June), Mikey’s friends and family held a special tribute for the late teenager, releasing helium balloons into the air.

One family member said: “This world is so so cruel and this was never ever meant to happen. Rest easy, my boy.”

Another family member said: “Such a cruel world we live in.”

A friend added: “He was so loved my so many. Absolutely heartbreaking.”

Another tribute read: “My house won’t be the same without him, always cracking jokes making me laugh.”

Mikey was a part-time worker at a licensed rubbish clearance and waste disposal service in the Bristol area called Siggz Of The Dump. He was set to start a full-time job at the business today.

his employer, Craig Sawyer said: “He was a great lad with a great heart. He was an amazing lad and all my customers loved him.

“He used to ring me before school and after school to work, he was a hard worker. All my customers loved him and will miss his smile and politeness.

“He was due to start full time from today, as he’s just done his GCSEs, which he was looking forward to.”
