Pope Francis ‘is not being listened to’ on plight of migrants, expert says | EUROtoday
Issued on:

Pope Francis is visiting the southern French port metropolis of Marseille to point out solidarity with the plight of migrants there. It comes a decade on from a landmark go to to the Italian island of Lampedusa in the beginning of his papacy, the place he condemned the “global indifference” to their struggling. The pontiff has travelled to many migration hotspots in that point, with harsh phrases for Europeans who, he says, reside in a bubble in a “culture of prosperity” that makes them apathetic. In Perspective, we take a look at whether or not the phrases and efforts of Pope Francis have made any distinction to these in energy. Camille Le Coz is a senior coverage analyst on the Migration Policy Institute Think Tank. She’s been talking to FRANCE 24’s Gavin Lee.
