Philippe Chardin, mayor of the small city of Cléry-le-Grand, in the Meuse, was violently overwhelmed on Friday September 29 in the morning – a “cowardly aggression” denounced by the prefect Xavier Delarue. “The prefect (…) gives its full support to the Mayor. The mayor was hospitalized and must be examined by a doctor from the medical-judicial unit for a suspected fracture in the orbital floor. “The prefect spoke to him on the phone and he is also supported by a lot of elected officials, national and regional, as well as by ministers”mentioned Mr. Burckel.
