“I urge you to support the strike action to demand an improved offer that addresses the inflation of pay bands and protects the lower paid grades.”

In a press release on the RMT London Calling web site, Mick Lynch wrote: “On Friday last week, before the ballot had even closed, LUL advised us that it was ignoring any of your wishes and that the pay offer would be imposed in January.

“This has understandably been met with a livid response from you and your colleagues and your Reps have reported overwhelming assist for a big and quick response.

“I urge you to support the strike action to demand an improved offer that addresses the inflation of pay bands and protects the lower paid grades.”

As a results of the strikes, hundreds of commuters shall be affected as they return to work after the Christmas break.

In a press release earlier this week, it was introduced that London Underground employees had voted to go on strike in a dispute over their pay.

In a press release, Transport for London (TfL) mentioned: “We are disappointed that RMT has achieved a mandate for strike action based on our full and final pay offer. We have been clear throughout our productive discussions with our trade unions that this offer is the most we can afford whilst ensuring that we can operate safely, reliably and sustainably.

“We stay open for discussions and can do all the things in our energy to keep away from disruption to Londoners.”

It was hoped a strike might have been averted after the Aslef commerce union accepted a pay supply for Tube drivers on Friday.
