Widespread velocity limits of 20mph have made London the world’s slowest metropolis centre for drivers.

Journeys of 6.2 miles within the capital took a mean of 37 minutes and 20 seconds final yr, stated location expertise firm TomTom.

This was one minute greater than in 2022 and the longest amongst 387 cities in 55 international locations.

It means London is the slowest metropolis for the second yr in a row.

Next was Dublin, with 6.2-mile journeys taking 29 minutes and 30 seconds.

It was adopted by Toronto, (29m); Milan, (28m, 50s); and Lima, Peru (28m, 30s).

In the UK, Manchester was ranked second (23m, 30s), adopted by Liverpool (22m, 50s), Bristol (22m, 40s) and Edinburgh (21m, 30s).

Stephanie Leonard, of TomTom, stated London had the world’s third highest petrol costs.

She added: “Avoiding peak hours could save Londoners up to £187 per year on fuel costs.”
