“Foreign volunteers were killed and injured as a result of an enemy strike on Beryslav,” Kherson area governor Oleksandr Prokudin wrote on Telegram.

Prokudin didn’t specify the precise duties of the volunteers, however he described them utilizing a Ukrainian phrase that sometimes refers to staff from humanitarian organisations.

“The Russian army killed two French citizens. Three more foreigners received minor injuries,” he added, providing his “sincere condolences to the families of the dead”.

The Ukrainian nationwide police reported that two males of French nationality had died because of a drone assault and that 4 males and a lady had been injured.

One of the injured males was a 41-year-old from Odesa, they mentioned.

“All victims came to Kherson region as volunteers,” police mentioned on Telegram, including they had been opening an investigation into the assault.

Contacted by AFP on Thursday night, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs didn’t instantly reply.

Beryslav, which sits on the Dnipro River near the entrance line, has repeatedly been focused by Russian drones and artillery.

On January 27, one individual was killed there by an explosive launched by a Russian drone.
