VS'It’s loopy what you could find on the backside of the Seine! Since the tip of the nineteenth centurye century 1000’s of objects have been introduced up from the river mattress. An exhibition in Paris bears witness to this. To see it, it’s a must to go down into the archaeological crypt of the Île de la Cité. The place is especially suited to the presentation of those treasures. Nearly 2,000 years in the past, the positioning hosted the town's first port, the stays of a quay of which have been unearthed between 1965 and 1972.
The Seine was, within the Gallo-Roman period, wider by round 50 meters, therefore the placement of this touchdown stage in comparison with the present route of the river. It was on this place that the “nautes”, because the members of the mariners' company have been then known as, loaded the barges which linked Lutèce to Rotomagus…
