Eighty years to the day after his execution, in 1944, at Mont-Valérien by the Nazis, alongside twenty-four different resistance fighters, together with twenty-one members, like him, of the Francs-tireurs and partisans of the main- of immigrant work (FTP-MOI), Missak Manouchian turned the primary overseas and communist resistance fighter to enter the Pantheon on Wednesday February 21. His ashes had been transferred to the crypt with these of his spouse, Mélinée, additionally a communist resistance fighter, who died in 1989.
