CDU politician Armin Laschet has sided with the demonstrators in opposition to right-wing extremism and the AfD. The protests are an encouraging sign. The AfD will not be the NSDAP, however may entry safety authorities if it have been in authorities.
DThe former Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia and CDU candidate for chancellor Armin Laschet has urgently warned of a gradual finish to democracy. “Democracy will not be ended by a coup or a revolution. This process is gradual,” wrote Laschet in a visitor article for the Kölnische Rundschau. That's why it's so vital to face collectively and maintain the AfD away from political duty. Laschet: “It’s better to do something – now and here!”
Laschet referred to as the Germany-wide rallies in opposition to right-wing extremism and the AfD an encouraging sign: “It says that our democracy is important to us. We want to remain a free country in which people are allowed to live their diversity, their beliefs and their religion without hatred and incitement. We include people who were born here and people who immigrated.”
Laschet warned in opposition to the concept issues wouldn't be so unhealthy if the AfD ruled. Of course the AfD will not be a NSDAP. But if an AfD politician turned prime minister in an East German state, he would have “access to the security authorities, to the appointment of police chiefs, to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, media supervision and the public prosecutor’s offices, including the appointment of judges.”
