Aberdeen Airport in Scotland named the UK’s worst for flight delays | UK | News | EUROtoday

A tiny airport within the UK has been named the worst in your entire nation for delays. Data from the Civil Aviation Authority exhibits which airports have the longest delays, with Aberdeen topping the record.

The Scottish airport had a mean delay of 20.70 minutes with 6,757 flights studied, which is over 4 minutes longer than every other airport. The common delay on the airport for simply December 2023 was 26.04 minutes.

The airport is frequented by the royal household, who fly out and in when visiting the Balmoral Estate which is simply 45 miles away.

In second place was the Isle of Man Airport with a mean delay of 16.22 minutes over 2,391 flights. In December 2023, there have been common delays of twenty-two.53 minutes.

Third is London Gatwick with a mean delay of 15.47 minutes for 58,762 flights studied in 2023. December 2023 knowledge confirmed the typical delay that month to be 24.31 minutes.

Also within the prime 5 have been Manchester and Luton. The remainder of the highest ten included Heathrow, Edinburgh, Teeside, Bristol and Stansted. Each had common delays of between 13.56 minutes and 12.43 minutes.

Axel Hernborg, founding father of Tripplo.com, stated: “While it’s never ideal for any of your flights to be delayed, you’ll likely experience it at some point, especially if you’re a frequent flyer.

“That being said, it’s interesting to see the big difference in the length of delays at certain UK airports, and it will be worth seeing if this correlates with the number of cancellations at each of these airports as well.

“With the summer holidays also coming up, whether the amount of cancellations we have seen across the UK in recent years keeps up will be worth noting too.”

The research was carried out by Tripplo.com, a reduction journey website, utilizing CAA flight punctuality knowledge from January, July and December 2023.
