But, a major change, the Lilas puncher is no longer there. Naturally, no one is needed anymore to make “little holes, little holes, always little holes”. Smartphones and automated gates handle tickets and checks. Jobs that weren’t essentially charming (as evidenced by the textual content of the city poet Gainsbourg) have disappeared.

Consequences observable every day: the general public area, abandoned by its everlasting professionals, has been profoundly reworked. The result’s much less human, much less welcoming, extra intrusive prepare and metro stations…
