Netherlands: Greta Thunberg arrested throughout street blockade in The Hague | EUROtoday

Dhe Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was arrested within the Netherlands at a big rally for local weather safety. The 21-year-old took half within the blockade of one of many essential roads in The Hague on Saturday together with different demonstrators. Activists from the group Extinction Rebellion known as for this. In The Hague they needed to occupy a part of the A12 motorway.

As “De Telegraaf” writes, the police had anticipated the activists there with a big contingent and arrived with, amongst different issues, horses and water cannons. Since 2022, the local weather activists from Extinction Rebellion have repeatedly held blockades on the A12 to protest in opposition to subsidies for fossil fuels. With Saturday's protest, the group says it needs to place strain on the Dutch authorities forward of one other deliberate debate on the difficulty in June.

In July 2022, the Dutch parliament requested the federal government to current a plan to section out fossil gasoline subsidies, estimated at between 39.7 and 46.4 billion euros. The plan has not but been introduced.
