Coming to Ukraine to battle his fellow Russian residents was the one choice left for a Siberian Battalion soldier with the callsign “West”. The fighter in his thirties says he felt he needed to take the choice as a result of unarmed protests in Russia towards the battle “are not working.” Established within the early summer season of 2023, the volunteer Siberian Battalion is part of the International Legion throughout the Ukrainian armed forces. Its troopers are a different group – each ethnic Russians and members of minority ethnic teams.
