He added: “It’s really shocking how badly the UK treats the victims of financial misconduct, compared to other countries.”

Campaigners are calling for a full public inquiry to look into what they are saying is the failure of public our bodies to guard individuals.

Mr Cole mentioned: “This is unfortunately another really big national scandal.”
