Russia and Ukraine have agreed in a Qatari-brokered deal to trade virtually 50 kids displaced by Moscow’s invasion, the Kremlin’s kids’s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova introduced in Doha Wednesday.

Moscow has been accused of forcibly taking Ukrainian kids into Russian territory throughout its full-scale offensive, with Lvova-Belova wished by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on prices associated to these allegations.

“For the first time in a face-to-face format, we held talks with the Ukrainian side. Twenty-nine children are due to go to Ukraine and 19 to Russia,” Lvova-Belova introduced.

She gave no particulars on why the kids have been in Russian palms or the place they’d come from.

Ukraine believes Russia has illegally taken greater than 19,000 of its kids for the reason that begin of the 2022 invasion, of which fewer than 400 have been returned.

Moscow denies that cost, saying that it has transferred kids for his or her security away from preventing zones.

The destiny of the kids has been extremely delicate in Ukraine for the reason that battle started two years in the past.

Some of the kids’s dad and mom have been killed, whereas others have been separated from carers by the fast-moving entrance strains at the beginning of the invasion.

Some have been residing in Ukrainian orphanages in areas Russia then occupied.

Ukraine says Moscow’s forces illegally deported them to Russia, and accuses the Russian authorities of attempting to wipe out their Ukrainian identification.

Teenagers that returned to Ukraine have stated they have been subjected to Russian patriotic schooling and made to reward the Russian military.
