Sir Keir Starmer was grilled by Richard Madeley over why he’s refusing to have a look at authorized recommendation that Angela Rayner claims exonerates her within the row over her former council home.

The Labour chief insisted he believes his deputy and doesn’t must see the paperwork personally when pressed by the Good Morning Britain host.

Sir Keir mentioned: “In the end the question we’re addressing here is where Angela Rayner was living 10 or 15 years ago. Angela has answered that question I don’t know how many times.

“The query on the finish is kind of an easy query which is do you consider Angela Rayner about the place she says she was dwelling.

“The answer to that question from me is yes. I don’t need legal advice to tell me whether I believe Angela Rayner when she tells me where she was living.”

Put to him whether or not he was not wanting on the authorized recommendation because of considerations he would see one thing he would moderately not know, Sir Keir added: “No, not at all.

“If a member of my shadow cupboard tells me they’re off to have an operation, I do not ask to see the medical recommendation, I do not ask for his or her medical notes.”

The GMB host pointed out that Ms Rayner is being investigated by police, adding: “That analogy does not maintain I’m afraid.”

Sir Keir replied: “The query could be very easy which is the place was Angela Rayner dwelling 10 to fifteen years in the past.

“She’s answered that question, I believe her. I don’t need to read her legal advice to tell me that I believe my deputy when she tells me where she was living 10 to 15 years ago.”

It comes as Greater Manchester Police is investigating allegations about Ms Rayner’s previous dwelling scenario.

The Ashton-under-Lyne MP is going through claims allegations she could have damaged electoral regulation by giving false details about the place she was dwelling.

There are additionally questions over whether or not she owes capital features tax on the 2015 sale of her ex-council home.

Ms Rayner insists the property on Vicarage Road in Stockport was her principal residence between 2007 and 2015.

She was registered on the handle for 5 years after she married Mark Rayner in 2010, whereas he was listed at one other property a couple of mile away in Lowndes Lane.

But neighbours have disputed claims that the couple lived individually.
