Drivers on a stretch of the M6 have been caught up in main delays after a crash between two HGVs. Two lanes are closed after the smash which occurred at round 6.15am at the moment (May 9).

The incident occurred between junctions 17 and 16, on the southbound carriageway, close to Stoke-on-Trent with queues stretching previous 4 miles as rush hour hits.

Traffic monitoring app Inrix is warning of ‘heavy site visitors’ with its alert stating: “Two lanes closed and heavy traffic due to accident, two lorries involved on M6 southbound between J17 A534 Old Mill Road ( Sandbach / Crewe) and J16 A500 (Stoke-on-Trent / Crewe). Lanes one and two (of four) are closed.”
