French police launched a large manhunt Tuesday after an assault on a jail convoy left an inmate on the run and two guards useless.

Hundreds of officers have been mobilized because the search continues for the escaped prisoner and people behind the assault.

The assault on the jail transport passed off Tuesday morning within the nation’s northern Eure area, west of Paris, and severely injured three different jail guards, France’s justice minister Eric Dupond-Moretti stated on social media.
