Is Sir Keir Starmer actually the “heir to Blair”? That was the query being requested on Thursday because the Labour chief did a marketing campaign launch with echoes of Sir Tony Blair’s modernisation undertaking.

A 1997-style pledge card was unveiled. Sir Keir talked about “changed Labour” similar to his predecessor’s “New Labour” creation. The tie and swimsuit jacket had been even ditched.

There are real similarities between the Starmer and Blair leaderships, ones that assist us perceive how the present Labour management would strategy coverage challenges in workplace. But the overlaps have limits. In at the very least three important methods, Sir Keir is treading a distinct path to Sir Tony. They might be missed amid as all eyes deal with the similarities with New Labour.
