BERLIN — A hereditary prince and alleged ringleader of a plot to violently overthrow the German authorities goes on trial alongside eight different suspects in Frankfurt on Tuesday. Heinrich XIII, Prince of Reuss, and his alleged co-conspirators are charged with preparation of a treasonous act and membership in or help of a terrorist group. Although such a coup was unlikely to succeed, German authorities assessed that the plotters had been superior sufficient of their planning, and sufficiently well-funded and armed, to pose a official menace of terrorism.
