Every summer time, Reims – the capital of Champagne – is remodeled into a large stage for the classical music competition Les Flâneries Musicales de Reims.
This vibrant and much-loved competition hosts 35 live shows over 22 days in 22 venues, and options greater than 600 artists from all throughout France and all over the world. Here are 10 the explanation why you need to go to les Flâneries Musicales – or fairly 10 live shows you need to guide proper now! 1. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra & Jean-Efflam Bavouzet
June 12, 2024, 8pm – Saint-Remi Basilica
The opening live performance of the competition sees the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, with Jean-Efflam Bavouzet on piano and Andrew Manze conducting, carry out Ravel's Concerto in G main for piano and orchestra and Elgar's Enigma Variations op.36.

2. The King's Singers
June 13, 2024, 8pm – Reims Opera
The King's Singers are the gold normal in a cappella singing and have been for greater than 5 many years, having been shaped in 1968 by six choral students from King's College, Cambridge. 3. The Modigliani Quartet

On two violins, a viola and a cello, the Modigliani Quartet will play Mozart's String Quartet K156 MilaneseElgar’s Piacevole (2nd mvt from string quartet op.83), Wolf's Italian Serenade and Beethoven's String quartet op.59 n°1 Razumovsky. Formed in 2003, the Modigliani Quartet is among the hottest string quartets of our time.

4. Nikolai Lugansky
June 15, 2024, 8pm – Reims Opera
One of the best pianists performing right now, Lugansky is famend for his interpretations of Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Chopin and Debussy. Here, he presents a program of works by Mendelssohn, Chopin and Wagner.

5. Renaud Capuçon
June 16, 2024, 4pm – Champagne Louis Roederer
In an unbelievable setting, Renaud Capuçon on violin and Guillaume Bellom on piano will carry out Fauré's Sonata op.13 n° 1, Elgar's Sonata for violin and piano and Strauss' Sonata for violin and piano op.18.

6. The Percussions of Strasbourg
June 18, 2024, 8pm – Cirque du Manège de Reims
Les Percussions de Strasbourg will carry out Iannis Xenakis' Pleiades and Jean-Sebastian Bach's Trio Sonatas No. 3 BWV 527 and no. 6 BWV 530. Founded in 1962, this ensemble made up of six percussionists is to not be missed.

7. Benjamin Grosvenor
June 19, 2024, 8pm – Saint-Remi Historical Museum, Cloister
Internationally acclaimed British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor presents Brahms' 3 Intermezzi op.117, Liszt's Sonata in B minor S.178 Lullaby S.174 and Chopin's Sonata no.3 in B minor op.58. The live performance takes place within the atmospheric cloisters of the previous Abbey of Saint-Remi, and you may go to the Musée Saint-Remi freed from cost earlier than the live performance!

8. Lille National Orchestra & Matilda Lloyd
June 26, 2024, 8pm – Saint-Remi Basilica
The Lille National Orchestra, with Matilda Lloyd on trumpet and James Feddeck conducting, presents Hummel's Trumpet Concerto and Brahms' Symphony n° 1. Feddeck, an American conductor whose musicality is acknowledged all through the world, is musical director of the Orchestra i Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan. British trumpeter Lloyd has garnered a world fame and “plays with intense expression and immense warmth” (BBC Music Magazine).

9. Julia Fischer Trio
July 2, 2024, 8pm – Reims Opera
The trio options German classical violinist Julia Fischer on violin, with Daniel Müller-Schott on cello and Yulianna Avdeeva on piano. Together they’ll carry out Bedřich Smetana's Trio for piano, violin and cello, Op.15 and Antonìn Dvořàk's Trio for piano, violin and cello, Op.65.

10. The Picnic Concert
July 6, 2024, 7pm – Parc de Champagne
The grand finale of the Flâneries Musicales de Reims is a joyous affair as crowds collect to picnic within the Parc de Champagne and hearken to a live performance of music by the likes of the Somme Battlefield Pipe Band and Hop Corner, who will entertain with some Irish classics . Then the Orchester nationwide de Metz Grand Est and the Nicolas de Grigny Choir will delight the crowds with some favorites similar to Holst's Planets and Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance… there's even the odd sea shanty and a spot of Lennon & McCartney thrown in for good measure. And in fact, it wouldn't be a finale with out rounding all of it off with a fireworks extravaganza.
