Wes Streeting has stated he’s ‘not particularly’ comfy with remedy of Diane Abbott after she confirmed she had been banned from standing for Labour

Ms Abbott was given again the Labour whip on Tuesday, with Labour sources telling The Telegraph that senior figures within the get together had been making an attempt to achieve a “soft landing” for the MP whereby she will “go with grace”.

But the MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington confirmed to The Telegraph she has been blocked by the get together from standing on the basic election.

When requested if he felt “comfortable” with what had occurred concerning Ms Abbott, Mr Streeting, the shadow well being secretary, advised Times Radio: “No, not particularly.”

He added: “I know that Diane had the whip restored and her suspension lifted yesterday. This was following her suspension over remarks that she made, for which she later apologised. So I know at this stage, in terms of decisions about her candidature, as much as has been reported.”

It got here after Dawn Butler, a senior Labour MP on the Left of the get together, advised Newsnight: “I do feel there are some people around Keir, not Keir himself, that maybe have watched a bit too much of Scandal or The West Wing and think that’s how politics is done. That isn’t how politics is done.”
