In Hungary, which has seen an erosion of democratic norms since far-right Prime Minister Viktor Orban got here to energy, a turncoat from Orban’s personal Fidesz celebration is shaking issues up. Peter Magyar says he needs to make Hungary a standard democratic nation once more. He left Fidesz and joined a minor opposition celebration, immediately bringing it as much as round 25 p.c within the polls forward of the European elections. While Orban’s celebration stays the most well-liked, particularly in small cities, the hole is narrowing. FRANCE 24’s Gulliver Cragg experiences.
