The Abba they obtained probably the most prestigious knighthoods on the planet from the Swedish king Carl XVI Gustaf Sweden. L’Order of the Vasa was awarded for the primary time in virtually 50 years.
The members of Swedish pop quartet have been awarded for «excellent dedication to Swedish and worldwide musical life». Agnetha Faltskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad triumphed on the Eurovision Song Contest '74 with 'Waterloo'.
The orders have been awarded throughout a solemn ceremony on the Royal Palace, within the gilded Vita Havet Assembly Rooms. The monarch offered them with the order in a purple field, whereas Queen Silvia offered them with a diploma.
