The US has warned of an “escalation” of combating on Israel's northern border between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah in Lebanon. Washington doesn’t need “an escalation of the conflict,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller advised reporters on Wednesday. “This would only lead to further loss of life on both the Israeli and Lebanese sides and would severely undermine Israel's security and stability in the region as a whole,” he stated.
Miller pressured that the US understood Israel's “untenable situation” on its northern border. Due to “ongoing attacks by Hezbollah” within the area, tens of hundreds of Israeli refugees couldn’t return to their properties as a result of it was “not safe” there.
However, Miller dismissed the approaching hazard of a potential impending conflict with Lebanonafter Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated his nation was prepared for a “very intensive operation” on the border with Lebanon. “The Israeli government's statements that it is ready for a military operation if necessary are different from a decision to carry out a military operation,” Miller pressured. From the US perspective, a diplomatic resolution is “still preferable.”
