The Paris Olympics organizers on Friday unveiled a show of the 5 Olympic rings mounted on the Eiffel Tower because the French capital marks 50 days till the beginning of the Summer Games.

The construction of rings, manufactured from recycled French metal, can be displayed on the south aspect of the 135-year-old landmark in central Paris, overlooking the Seine River. Each ring is 9 meters (30 toes) in diameter.

Thousands of athletes will parade via the guts of the French capital on boats on the Seine alongside a 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) route within the opening ceremony at sundown on July 26.

There can be no scarcity of iconic venues on the Paris Olympics.

The tower, nicknamed La Dame de Fer (The Iron Lady), will characteristic prominently within the July 26-Aug. 11 Paris Games and the next Paralympics.

Men’s and ladies’s volleyball gamers will compete on the foot of the 330-meter (1,083-foot) monument. The Olympic and Paralympic medals in Paris are being embedded with items from a hexagonal chunk of iron taken from the tower.

Cranes for the rings

Two large cranes had been used in a single day Friday to carry the 30—ton construction and mount it between the primary and second flooring of the tower.

The Olympic rings can be illuminated each evening with 100,000 LED bulbs via the Paralympic Games that begin Aug. 28, 17 days after the Olympics’ closing ceremony.

The Paralympics will deliver collectively 4,400 athletes from 180 international locations in 549 occasions and 22 sports activities. Many sports activities will happen close to landmarks together with the Eiffel Tower, Versailles and the Grand Palais.
