IThere isn’t any age to be pleased and it’s not the American veteran Harold Terens who would say the alternative. Aged 100, he married his 96-year-old fiancée, Jeanne Swerlin, on Saturday morning on the city corridor of Carentan-les-Marais, in Manche. A symbolic place, situated close to the seashores the place the Landing occurred on June 6, 1944.
“It’s the best moment of my entire life, I’m 100 years old and my fiancée is 96, and getting married here in Carentan is incredible: it’s my second favorite place in the world (…) I feel young again,” proclaimed Harold Terens on the finish of the ceremony, as reported AFP.
To obtain this “American hero”, the city corridor of Carentan-les-Marais pulled out all of the stops. They embellished the timber and put in a small parachute, in homage to the American paratroopers of June 6, 1944 in Normandy.
