LThe singer Gims was reportedly approached to sing on the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games. In an interview given to the Belgian media Ciné-Télé-Revue, the artist claims to have refused to take part.
“I could have done it, but it wasn’t my will,” he broadcasts. The artist emphasizes that he has “already had the chance to perform one of the anthems of the 2022 World Cup, during the closing ceremony. I don't think we can get any bigger. I don’t want to be everywhere,” he confides. After singing “Arhbo”, one of many anthems of the 2022 Football World Cup in Qatar, Gims mentioned within the columns of Parisian that “for an artist, an event which brings together more than a billion people cannot be refused, it’s a source of pride, it’s enormous”.

Information denied by the organizing committee of the Olympic Games: “contrary to the information relayed in the media, the artists who will perform during the ceremonies of the Paris 2024 Games will not receive a fee for their performance”, as a result of “this commitment to their part – under these conditions – reflects their desire to participate in a historic event for France and for the world of sport,” particulars a press launch.
