A UK city is at the moment on lockdown whereas armed police are concerned in a tense stand-off with a ‘man with a gun’.

Residents in Stanningley have been instructed to remain inside as officers reply to the incident. Armoured autos and streets are sealed off within the Half Mile Green space of the West Yorkshire city.

Police say they had been first referred to as to what they believed to be a home incident about 5 miles from Leeds metropolis centre. However, on the scene they found man inside a house with what’s believed to be a handgun.

A spokesperson instructed Leeds Live: “A police operation is currently ongoing at an address in Half Mile Green, Stanningley. At 12.36pm today, officers were called to a domestic-related incident at the property but withdrew on seeing a male at the address in possession of what appeared to be a handgun.

“A cordon is at the moment in place and varied emergency service assets, together with police negotiators, are on the scene working to deliver the incident to a secure conclusion. The male is the one particular person within the deal with and there’s no danger to the broader neighborhood.”
