Emmanuel Macron goes to Oradour-sur-Glane, in Haute-Vienne, on Monday June 10, within the firm of German President Franck-Walter Steinmeier, to commemorate the eightieth anniversary of the bloodbath dedicated by a battalion of the SS Das Reich division which was returning to the Norman entrance after the Allied landings.

The village was utterly burned and its inhabitants killed by German gunfire or within the hearth of the church and barns, throughout a bloodbath which left 643 victims, the vast majority of whom had been ladies and youngsters.
