A younger man in his 20s plunged a Jet2 flight into chaos because it was pressured to divert on its route from Glasgow Airport when he reportedly turned aggressive in direction of cabin crew and fellow passengers.

The vacation flight left for Tenerife round 4pm on Wednesday (June 12) and pandemonium broke out mid-air. Allegedly, the passenger turned violent, inflicting a number of onboard to restrain him, guaranteeing the protected touchdown of the aircraft at Shannon Airport, Ireland the place police swiftly boarded to arrest him.

He is at the moment being held in custody by Garda officers, who’re wanting into the incident. A Garda spokesperson mentioned: “Garda attached to Shannon Airport arrested a man, aged in his 20s, following an incident on board an aircraft that diverted to Shannon Airport yesterday evening Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at approximately 5.30pm.”

They continued: “Gardai met the aircraft and arrested the man under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in County Clare.”

According to Glasgow Live, they added: “Investigations ongoing.”

Meanwhile, a Jet2 spokesperson mentioned: “We can confirm that flight LS155 from Glasgow to Tenerife diverted to Shannon Airport on Wednesday afternoon so police could offload a disruptive passenger.”
