The United States sanctions an Israeli extremist group for the primary time for blocking humanitarian help to Gaza

The United States has imposed sanctions for the primary time in opposition to one of many Israeli extremist teams blocking the distribution of humanitarian help in Gaza. The inclusion of the Tzav 9 group on the checklist of overseas entities sanctioned by the State Department is yet one more of Washington's measures to attempt to eradicate the obstacles that forestall the closing of a ceasefire settlement between Israel and the Palestinian militia Hamas within the fringe.

Tzav 9 operates within the West Bank and has ties to former Israeli reservists and the settler motion occupying that territory. It is “a violent Israeli extremist group that has blocked, harassed and damaged convoys transporting vital humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in the Strip,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller denounced in a press release. “For months, Tzav 9 individuals have repeatedly sought to prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza through methods such as blocking roads, sometimes violently, along their route from Jordan to Gaza, including in the West Bank. “They have damaged trucks and thrown essential humanitarian aid onto the road.”

The State Department reminds Israel that it “has a responsibility to ensure the safety of humanitarian convoys crossing Israel and the West Bank on their way to Gaza” and insists that it’s going to not tolerate “acts of sabotage and violence against this essential aid.” “We will continue to use every tool at our disposal to hold those responsible for these heinous acts accountable, and we hope and urge the Israeli authorities to do the same.”
