Following the violence in response to the plan to thaw the electoral physique, the Nouméa public prosecutor's workplace opened an investigation into legal conspiracy focusing on alleged “sponsors” of the riots. As a part of this investigation, 11 pro-independence officers from the CCAT, the Field Action Coordination Unit, had been arrested. Among them is Christian Téin, chief of the motion behind the demonstrations in opposition to electoral reform. These arrests induced quite a few disturbances in Magenta and Greater Nouméa.
