Lando Norris put collectively a sensational lap in qualifying yesterday to take pole place for this afternoon’s Spanish Grand Prix. He beat Max Verstappen to pole by simply two hundredths of a second after what he described because the “perfect lap”. Norris secured the pole forward of Verstappen regardless of the Dutchman getting a tow down the pit-straight from his teammate Sergio Perez.

“I knew for the final lap, I’ve got to go balls out and do it, you know?” Norris mentioned. “And that little bit I was needing to get out of Max I managed to get. So I’m happy the risks paid off, and for all of it to come together when I needed it most was great.”
