Labour has let the “cat out of the bag” after a celebration activist was secretly filmed telling a voter: “We want you to vote for Reform UK.”

A Reform UK supporter filmed the interplay with a Labour canvasser from his Darlington driveway, wherein the doorknocker stated a vote for Nigel Farage’s occasion would let Labour win the important thing marginal seat.

After the Tees Valley native instructed the canvasser he could be backing Reform UK, the Labour footsoldier replied: “They’re not going to win.

“They won’t win in Darlington, not a hope in hell. All you’re doing is taking votes away from the Conservatives, so we want you to vote for Reform.”

TikTok user ReformDarlo insisted that his preferred party could win the Red Wall seat, although recent polls suggest Mr Farage’s party will come a poor third on 8.8 percent.

According to the New Statesman’s constituency model Labour will win the seat with 49.3 percent of the vote, compared with the Tories’ 33.2 percent.

Tory Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen told the Express that the interaction “shows there’s everything still to play for at the election and Labour are panicking”.

Lord Houchen added: “They can’t convince anyone to back slippery Starmer and they know there is no love for the Labour Party on the doors, so they’ve resorted to campaigning for Reform in the hope they can stop Conservatives being elected.

“Many people across our country are very worried about a Labour government, and now the cat is out of the bag.

“A vote for Reform is a vote for Labour and slippery Starmer.”

Britain Elects/New Statesman counsel Reform may very well be on track to win six seats on the July 4 General Election, albeit largely in Essex and Lincolnshire.

Reform may very well be on track to win Clacton, Boston and Skegness, Castle Point, Hornchurch, Mid Buckinghamshire and South Basildon.

Responding to the clip, Tory Chairman Richard Holden stated: “It’s as clear as day that Labour want you to vote Reform.

“It’s all here – in their own words – Reform can’t win but a vote for them will help put Sir Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner into power.”

The official Reform UK Darlington department joked: “It’s ever so nice to have so many of the opposition parties telling folk to vote Reform. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.”
