“I am regularized, but not French. So, I can't vote. On the other hand, there are some who have the right to vote and who don't use it. It annoys me. When it's too late, they start talking, saying that it doesn't suit them. You had to be active! Don't wait for it to happen, then we'll cry. This time, I hope that people will have understood, because if everyone doesn't wake up, it's going to be complicated for them afterwards.

I have two children. One autistic, the other gifted. But both are Algerian. I fear for their future. We arrived here in 2016, but I had already lived in France when I was a child, I went to school there. Before my father took me back to Algeria, at 19. There, I married a man with whom I had my children. But, in Algeria, for my son Asperger, there is no future, he was excluded from his school. I left my country and my husband to give him a better life. He has a photographic memory. He is very gifted at drawing. We were welcomed by associations, he was recognized by the MDPH [maison départementale des personnes handicapées]he had a chaperone at school. People who hold this position are paid a pittance, and there are fewer and fewer of them. But are children less disabled? And if the National Rally [RN] takes power, what will it look like? Today, my eldest son is 15 years old and he is entering a professional BAC in graphic design and visual communication. I tell myself that he has managed to get through it, that he is saved.

When we arrived in France, I applied for papers as a disabled child's companion, the prefecture refused. My lawyer argued in court and had the prefect's decision overturned. I obtained a residence permit. Then, the prefect appealed and I received an order to leave the country. But I had just got social housing, a job in a recreation center, my children were in school. It was a total disaster, I risked finding myself with nothing. Fortunately, since I had been here for five years, I met the conditions imposed by the Valls circular: a job, children in school… That's how I was able to be regularized. But I feel like I'm reliving it with these elections. Are we going to have to go back to Algeria? Start all over again from scratch? I have stability here, with my children.

“Here I feel useful”

As I all the time say, France is my host nation. Our future is right here. I’m built-in into society, I don’t reside aside, I work, I’m a part of the dad and mom' affiliation of my kids's college. On the aspect, I’m creating an affiliation for autistic kids. Here, I’m not a burden, I really feel helpful. People suppose that as a result of we have now migrated we don’t do a service to society. But, we’re constructing the France of tomorrow for our youngsters, we’re not ready! In the well being sector alone, there are Arabs, Blacks, folks from Eastern Europe, it’s a stunning combine. Why do they wish to divide us? To reign higher?
