Any try by the Democrats to switch President Biden with a brand new candidate is prone to be met with authorized challenges, Mike Johnson, the US House speaker, warned on Sunday.

“Every state has its own system, and in some of these, it’s not possible to simply just switch out a candidate,” Mr Johnson, echoing remarks he made on the Republican National Convention this week, advised ABC.

Speaking of a potential swap on Thursday, the Louisiana Republican mentioned: “I think in states where it can be contested, I expect that it will be, and they’ll have an interesting battle on their hands.”

His feedback recommend a potential technique the Republicans could also be wanting into if Mr Biden decides to exit the race.

Although the president has not but been formally nominated because the Democrat candidate, Mr Johnson believes there are nonetheless grounds for a problem as he was the clear winner on the celebration’s primaries.
