Lucy Letby has changed her authorized workforce in a bid to overturn the convictions for which she is presently serving a complete life sentence,
The former neonatal nurse has no prospect of parole after being convicted of the murders of seven infants and the tried homicide of seven others at Countess of Chester Hospital.
Mark McDonald, a specialist barrister in appeals and miscarriages of justice, advised the BBC that he was now representing Letby.
Mr McDonald mentioned he plans to take her case to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) to use for it to be despatched again to the Court of Appeal.
The specialist barrister would want to safe recent proof and persuade the CCRC that such proof undermines the protection of her convictions.
He mentioned: “I knew almost from the start, following this trial, that there is a strong case that she is innocent. The fact is juries get it wrong. And yes, so does the Court of Appeal, history teaches us that.”
On Wednesday, he posted on X: “The day after Lucy was convicted I raised concerns. I was attacked for speaking out even reported to my professional body.
“There are many hurdles to beat in coming years however someday justice will likely be executed and people wrongly convicted will likely be freed.”
