Olivier Faure assures that “no socialist” will take part in Michel Barnier's authorities | EUROtoday

Invited on France Inter, the chief of the Socialist Party (PS) firmly dismissed this speculation on Friday, September 6. “I think that no PS personality will enter his government,” he proclaimed on public radio, responding within the affirmative when requested if he was “sure.”

The first secretary of the pink celebration believes that Michel Barnier was appointed by the President of the Republic to Matignon with the complicity of the National Rally (RN). Taking up the method utilized by the brand new Prime Minister who claims to need to “govern with everyone”, Olivier Faure considers that this was not addressed to the left. “When he says that, who is he really addressing? The left? No, the far right,” he denounces.

“The winks are not quite where you indicate,” he continues. “The winks are for Marine Le Pen, who is the one who, basically, decided who would be Prime Minister since she said that she would not necessarily censor this one, whereas she had said it for all the others.”

While, in keeping with AFP, “certain left-wing figures have been contacted” to enter the federal government, Olivier Faure introduced on France Inter that this was not his case. “He must not consider me as a left-wing figure since he did not contact me,” the chief of the New Popular Front (NFP) coldly declared.

The Cazeneuve ambiguity

On the opposite hand, Olivier Faure defended himself from having, with the Socialist Party, contributed to Bernard Cazeneuve not being appointed to exchange Gabriel Attal. According to him, via their vote within the final legislative elections, the French “did not simply ask to have names, they want that behind names there is a policy that is conducted”.
