Reform UK’s deputy chief Richard Tice has delivered a stern assertion to the Government if it doesn’t put a cease to blast furnace closures.

Thousands of UK staff concern they’re susceptible to being laid off earlier than Christmas as British Steel prepares to carry ahead its closure plans.

“I will literally eat their lunch if they shut them down,” says Richard Tice. British Steel, owned by Chinese firm Jingye, introduced in 2023 that it’s going to shut down its blast furnaces in Scunthorpe, placing over 2,000 jobs in danger.

“This Labour Government must not dare to entertain the closure of the last UK blast furnaces in Scunthorpe,” he provides.

They might be changed by two electrical arc furnaces – one at Scunthorpe and one at Teeside. Bosses at British metal have insisted the transfer is required to create a ‘clean, green and sustainable business’.

Electric arc furnaces supply the flexibility to recycle scrap metal utilizing clear electrical energy, not like blast furnaces, which depend on coal. However Reform UK’s deputy chief insists the transfer “will make not a blind bit of a difference to the environment”.

New polling from JL companions reveals the general public have a extra optimistic view on Reform UK than the Government. And now the five-man get together have their sights set on gaining ‘safe’ Labour seats within the subsequent General Election.

Speaking to the Express.co.uk, Tice stated: “We at Reform will destroy them at the polls and we will take dozens of Labour heartland seats if they shut them down,

“Just five of us have made such noise and [are] such a threat to them that I don’t think the Government will dare allow what they have said will happen, to happen,

“We have a five point plan which will preserve and protect the future of British steelmaking.”

The Reform MP held a debate in Westminster corridor to carry the Government to account after British Steel introduced ahead the closures the place Tice outlined his plan.

The first level is to speed up the metal technique to launch earlier than Christmas, with the second level being to ensure that Scunthorpe blast furnaces stay operational with the Government taking a stake in British Steel, thirdly Tice proposed a scrap of all present and proposed carbon taxes.

The fourth level is to cease Chinese metal dumping with substantial tariffs on imported metal and the fifth and ultimate level is to make sure the UK public sector initiatives purchase British manufactured metal as a matter after all.
