A corrections officer at a New Mexico county jail is accused of orchestrating assaults within the bathe on two inmates who are suffering from psychological sickness, based on a police report.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office incident report obtained by the Albuquerque Journal says that safety digicam footage confirmed inmates “attacking other inmates while under the supervision” of the officer, Nathan Shpiller.

Johanna Sandoval, the mom of one of many inmates, instructed the newspaper that her son, 61, is identified with bipolar dysfunction and requires each day medicine. She mentioned the allegations are “terrible.”

Shpiller, an officer on the jail since November 2022, declined to remark. He has not been charged.
