A stupendous Christmas market positioned in a vibrant metropolis boasts of a “whole new vibe” this yr has left a customer extremely impressed.

Newcastle, well-known for its nightlife, has gone an additional mile to offer a beautiful new look to its Christmas market. Chronicle Live author Barbara Hodgson visited the town’s market and was left mesmerised.

The market opened this weekend and Ms Hodgson cherished the brand new really feel. The market this yr has expanded to incorporate a Christmas Village in Old Eldon Square and 6 ‘North Pole’ igloos which you could ebook.

Adorned with fairy lights and florals, and that includes furry throws draped over picket bench seats, the igloos felt heat and welcoming, stated Ms Hodgson.

She acknowledged that the heating was particularly appreciated on such a cold day, making them even cozier.

She stated: “From their elevated position, the igloos – which are available to pre-book – have great views and if you pick the right one you can see down Grey Street or else take in the hustle and bustle of the market.

“And during my morning lookaround, the surrounding area became increasingly busy.”

The market features numerous chalet-style stalls brimming with gifts like jewellery and knitwear. And let’s not forget the food vendors, including the Grill Tower, which serves up mouthwatering bratwurst to eager customers.

This year over 35 traders are participating, most of them local, offering an impressive variety of goods.

A perennial favourite, the Moosenwirt alpine bar, has returned to its usual spot, where several visitors are already gathered around fire pits, enjoying their drinks.

She wrote: “I make my way to Old Eldon Square and here I find a whole new experience. The Christmas Village, a market first, puts the green on an equal footing this year with its family-focused attractions.

“The fairground carousel is the first thing to catch the eye and then there’s its giant Christmas tree opposite a double tipi where Santa will be hosting story sessions throughout the season.

“I have a look inside the tipi and it’s clear how much attention to detail has gone into this new kids’ experience. Santa and his elves really look the part and next to them cushions and seating are laid out in readiness for the growing queue of children waiting patiently outside.”

The market, which can be open each day from 10am till 8pm and till 5pm on Sundays, will proceed to function till December 22.
