Four Britons are amongst dozens of individuals feared lacking after a vacationer yacht sank off the coast of Egypt on Monday.

At least 17 individuals are feared lacking regardless of an enormous rescue operation saving 28 folks from the imperilled vessel, in accordance with the governor of the Red Sea area, Amr Hanafi.

The boat sank off the south of the Egyptian coastal city of Marsa Alam with 31 vacationers of varied nationalities on board together with 14 crew members.

Some vacationers had been airlifted to obtain medical remedy. It was not instantly clear what triggered the four-deck motor yacht to sink.

But the Egyptian Meteorological Authority on Saturday warned about tough climate and huge waves, advising towards maritime exercise for Sunday and Monday on the Red Sea.

A Foreign Office spokesperson mentioned: “We are providing consular support to a number of British nationals and their families following an incident in Egypt and are in contact with the local authorities.”

What triggered the yacht to sink?

It was not instantly clear what triggered the four-deck motor yacht to sink after it departed from the Egyptian coastal city of Marsa Alam on Monday.
